Draft Media Pitch

SUBJECT: CVAIA promotes financial independence through passive income

Dear Christina Bowcutt,

I wanted to notify you of the Cache Valley Area Investor's Association and the cause they are promoting right now. They teach their members that by increasing passive income you can do what you love and obtain financial independence. With the right mentality and training, you can learn how to make your passive income higher than your expenses. Preston Parker, President of CVAIA is teaching this idea supported by Robert Kiyosaki, author of 'Rich Dad, Poor Dad' along with Ayn Rand, author of 'Atlas Shrugged'. CVAIA's meetings are held at the Cache Valley Chamber of Commerce every other Thursday at 7:00 p.m.

At their meetings, the CVAIA members and visitors network and learn. Through guest speakers and presentations by members, they learn how to raise their passive income and lower their expenses.

For more information you can contact me at 801-123-4567.

  1. Elise, this is coming together nicely! I like your tone in this. Gently prodding but not over the top.

One thing I thought to point out:

In your 1st paragraph, 2nd sentence "They teach their members that by increasing passive income you can do what you love and obtain financial independence."

I'm not sure about using the word "you" as the subject. Consider re-wording.

Keep it up, this is almost there!

  2. Great job with your media pitch. It really made me want to write a story on CVAIA. I think you pushed for a story, but it wasn't over the top. There were a few sentences that I think you would re-write because the wording was a little obscure, but I liked it. Good job.

  3. Excellent transition from a press release to a media pitch. Perhaps directly relate Bowcutt's publication and readership to the cause you are promoting.

  4. That sound pretty good. It's a little "wordy" in your first paragraph. You may want to start a new paragraph after the third sentence.
